Dr. Susan Kirkendol earned her doctorate degree from Bastyr University in 2014 in Naturopathic Medicine and Master of Science in Acupuncture and East Asian Medicine in 2017. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from The University of South Carolina – Columbia (Summa Cum Laude) earned in 2008.
Her clinical philosophy revolves around providing the most effective and affordable integrative care for disease management and wellness promotion. Utilizing a broad range of interventions from craniosacral therapy, acupuncture/moxibustion, cupping, biofeedback, physical medicine (naturopathic manipulations and massage), herbal medicine (Western and Chinese), Kinesio Taping, neural therapy, counseling (cognitive behavioral therapy and acceptance and commitment therapy), intravenous therapy, nutrition, and lifestyle modification (exercise) to support patients in reaching their healthcare needs and wellness goals. Clinically she most enjoys working with adolescents and seniors. Pain management, sleep improvement and sports medicine are the areas of practice she finds the most rewarding.
She is an anatomy and physiology instructor for the massage program at Lotus in addition to working as a professor for the acupuncture with Chinese herbal medicine specialization program.
When not working she spends every moment she can with her amazing spouse, two dogs, and cat. The things that nourish her soul are nature in its infinite variety and mystery, books, history, art, animals, philosophy, and listening to the stories of people’s lives.
